BlackBerry Storm3

Exclusive! We are ecstatic to have the opportunity to present you with our initial review of the latest prototype mobile device from everyone’s favorite company.  We can now confirm the much rumoured specifications of the device which include: 16GB of internal memory via propriety SSD/Flash hybrid technology, 10 hour+ talk time on 3G and a whopping 300 ppi screen resolution.

The crystal-clear, sleek glass device entices your fingertips with its sharp, confident form factor. Ergonomically designed for comfort means endless hours of play masquerading as work, just beware of envious coworkers. It sports an inconspicuous, high resolution dual-lens reflex camera system which we found had excellent performance in video chat and conferencing or just for taking pictures in all situations and environments. We love that all the hardware is hidden within two sections cleverly covered by a glossy black, multi-layer thin strip audio technology that enhances sound clarity.

The multi-touch, intuitive response OS (a welcome visual departure from the generic 6.0 OS recently revealed) breaks ground in productivity increase, networking prowess and sheer power. Surepress technology has been revisited for multi-press enhancement, interactivity improvement and increased predictive touch accuracy. Audio and video format playback support has doubled and internal recordings are wrapped within a new proprietary lossless format technology that clearly boasts maximum quality AND high compression rates with no visible artifacting. The device we tested included all your favorite wireless technologies (802.11n Wifi, Bluetooth 3.0) and support for the very exciting 60ghz spectrum Wifi (which we could not test).

Are you drooling yet? Don’t fret, while you can’t get your hands on this device for now, you can have the closest thing – our exceptional Polygon UI, seen on the prototype.

  1. Is this for real? I have never, never, never, ever seen anything from RIM this innovative. I’ll believe it when I see it.

  2. Great mock-up guys. I can’t wait for a future like this. It would mean RIM will have to catch up to the Premium Developer. And I don’t think they’ll take these risks just yet.

  3. This can not be for real. I would love to eat my own words and see this device come to the market soon as the Storm 3 but I don’t really see it happening.

  4. OMFG! when does this come out? where can I buy!? I can’t believe it.

  5. just wondering about your mock up….

where does the cpu and ram belong?
took apart a storm before and theres no way that design can fit the cpu unless something really inovative happens

  6. You guys have been thinking way to much about ironman 2 lol glass phone and the guy who asked if this is real lol… where would the battery be, o wait they invented an element to power it too lol

  7. LOL Dylantittel

I think all of the CPU and processing would be located in the two bulges in the back!!

  8. This thing is real! Mark my words…all I can say for now.

  9. @XRollinx

over the years battery tech has improved tremendously but newer energy tech is not used due to high price.

take the link cell tech which is used in most self powered components/instruments in a modern day ops-aircraft (no not military ops. it refers to non-passenger purpose aircraft) u can easily fit the battery init. the cpu however is a whole diff story. those 2 bulges arent huge enough for a cpu to fit in and fyi cpu – central processing unit. as for the ram, radio, connectors, ribbons etc….. sure the tech MIGHT exist. but….. do you have any idea how expensive it’ll be?

  10. Like in the iPad’s situation, the pricing will be up to the manufacturer. Apple could have easily upped the price to over 1K but they instead decided to try penetration pricing and start out low.

Sure production costs will go up…but they won’t be deadly. It will all depend on how much they are trying to make in margins.

I bet the cost of making an iPad is less than $200, especially if they are made in large quantities.

  11. Did you see pics or did you get to hold it?

  12. Seriously? I would love to see RIM do this but after seeing that monstrosity of a clamshell and the EVOlutionary 6.0 OS, I really don’t see them making anything remotely this stylish.

    Wishful thinking guys, wishful thinking.

Android and Window 7 Phones are going to take over.

  13. You should post this on Crackberry.com. It will drive some people crazy.

  14. ohh my god… i wanttt ittttt…. please tell me is REAL.

  15. Hey cool stuff guys .. it looks like one in sci-fi movies..

But I am not sure if its real or official from RIM
Otherwise BGR or Crackberry should have posted about it …

  16. I believe this is real .. Loved my Storm 1 and also my Storm 2 cant wait for this. Why would Rim allow them to put it up if they would not come through

  17. Given the gaff of the Apple eng. who left their new soon to be released phone in a bar…..I find it hard to believe that RIM would let this design out of the locker. If this is true it would be leaps and bounds above anything they have released to date and should vault them past everyone. But the proof is in the pudding….and then what carrier will have it???

  18. I don’t see how all of the internal componets can fit into this design, like the battery. Neverless, if this has a 1Gig+ CPU, plenty of RAM and a great display I would buy it. Sprint is going to bring a 4G network on line this summer. RIM Storm3 and other HTC devices will run 4G this year. I think the I phone fad will be “riding off into the sunset “soon. R.I.P.

  19. All I can say is you had me going there for a second..

    LMFAO…..!

But it’s good.. gotta give it to you’s guys…lol….

  20. That is the dopest shit i have ever seen! That would be the last phone i buy.

  21. One word only: awesooooooooome….. :)

  22. Assuming RIM makes this device real and official, it would probably be the best BlackBerry ever!!

  23. I Like it a lot!!! If it comes true I will buy it in a second!!!

  24. This Phone Looks So Stylish OF the Future. it would be great if RIM pulls something like this off. which RIM dedicated it LIfe to build JUST PHONES. just think about all this RIM phones that are coming out. all theses blackberrys so many types. if RIM Perfects the STORM3 ill BE in it for life and future RIM devices WHICH we Are Going to see Yearly Around.

this phone looks so freaking COOL makes me drool!!!!

  25. This is absolutely real. I’m not sure if RIM has this, but I read about this technology about a year ago. Welcome to the future my friends. We have arrived!

  26. More like Storm30 and in 30 years from now.

  27. It doesn’t make sense…come on ppl, where will the hardware device be? the cpu, RAM, Camera devices, sim card, sd card, the antenna and other stuff???
IT CAN NOT be real…and IT IS NOT…
    Think ppl..think..

  28. lol… no battery… tiny CPU, invisible hybrid chip slots and network chip access and glass… lots of glass… this should be used by Will Smith in I, Robot together with Audi TT prototype. Say what… Steve Jobs bought RIM? Get real.

  29. LOL!!! Yea Right! RIM has to come out the dark-ages first!

  30. Of course this pic is fake for those who think its real! But the facts listed above r very true. Im a software engineer for RIM n ive seen the storm 3 final product first hand. It is really goin to b an iphone killer for those who stick to BB!

  31. So how bout you tell us more Ricky?? What makes you soo sure it will be an iPhone killer and WHEN will we see this phone??

  32. Storm 3 is a Storm 2 refresh. How is Storm 3 an iPhone killer?

  33. Honestly, this would be blow most phones out of the business… cause I don’t think anyone else can make phones like that. So if this is true, and it’s really created and will be released, then… we better fix our credit now, cause I doubt it’ll be available for companies that people with bad credit can go to, like T-Mobile Flexpay. Otherwise, you probably won’t get to have one.

  34. The real question is not if RIM can create a phone like that, but if RIM really want to create a phone like that.
    Honestly, until RIM decides to leave the stone age, I do not think they will really be interested to create something like this;

  35. For anyone who thinks this tech and design is so unbelievable, I guess you’re going to need help picking your jaws up off of the floor. The tech exists, and the acquisitions RIM has made over the last couple of years, are all contributing to the design and functionality of this Storm 3. Not to be confused with the Storm2 refresh. Synaptics intuitive multi-touch screens are caked with what appears to be invisible tech. Feel free to look them up.

The design of this phone, although a concept, is not all that differently shaped than a one Droid X. Top and bottom back ends are clearly thicker to support the larger equip. I’m eagerly awaiting this phone by RIM. I would advise you all do as well.

  36. mikee that is the not the storm 3. Also the time the storm 3 comes out iphone will have a better phone times 50. I have a storm. storm 3 release date nov. or dec. They also going to have a storm 4 that will be out by the end of 2011.
